Consulting with Heart: My Love Letter to the Nonprofit Sector 💜

Some days I want to cry. Other days, I’m overflowing with purpose. Most days, it’s both. Nonprofit Work Is Hard Right Now, But I’m Not Going Anywhere.

Being a nonprofit consultant isn’t just what I do, it’s who I am. At RBJ Community Consulting, I partner with mission-driven leaders who are carrying heavy loads right now: funding uncertainty, burnout, board tension, strategic fog, and the weight of deep community need.

And even with all of that, I love this work. I love helping nonprofits dream again. Refocus. Build clarity and confidence. I love helping teams reset direction when things feel messy. I love walking alongside folks trying to build something real, honest, and transformational.

I’ve been working in and alongside the nonprofit sector for over 16 years starting with youth development programs and moving through roles in direct service, program management, community engagement, strategic planning, and now full-time consulting. My roots in this work run deep because I’ve lived it. I’ve been in the staff meetings where the funding ran out and we had to make adjustments to continue to serve the communities we love. I’ve written the grant reports at 11:30pm. I’ve navigated tough conversations, big dreams, burnout, and breakthroughs.
